Taking much pleasure in singing and a long lasting choral experience – this mixture characterizes the Kammerchor Wernigerode. All members have graduated from the Landesgymnasiums für Musik Wernigerode and have sung previously in one of the renowned school choirs.

The Kammerchor was founded in 2003 and won the International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival & Competition the same year. The ensemble also achieved 3rd place at the German Choir Competition in Kiel (2006) and 1st place at the first Grand Prix of Choirs (2007). Afterwards they were invited to do a concert tour in China (2008) and won two gold medals at the 2nd European Choir Games & Grand Prix of Nations in Magdeburg, Germany (2015).

The repertoire does not only comprehend well-known German and international folk songs but also challenging sacred and secularly choral music of different ages as well as spirituals, gospels and modern songs. So far the choir produced two CDs including one Christmas CD („Wie strahlt dein Licht so sternklar“).  Since summer 2017 the conductor is Benjamin Stielau, who already worked with renounded ensembles such as the Bach choir, the Staatskapelle Weimar and the RIAS-Kammerchor of Berlin.
